During the seven years that Dan Siuta has been working in retail security for AlliedBarton, he's had to respond to a number of different situations. Lost children, bomb threats, fires and theft prevention all come with the territory.
It's during hurricane season, however, that Dan really has to be prepared for just about anything. The officers once locked themselves inside the mall for three days straight so they could provide around-the-clock security.
Dan takes it all in stride, saying, "I like to help people. I look at each situation as a challenge."
“AlliedBarton's willingness to train and develop employees, and promote from within is tremendous.”
As an 18-year-old college student, Gesi McAllister enjoyed a flexible schedule as an AlliedBarton security officer. It was just a temporary way to earn some cash while she got her degree.
Once Gesi graduated, she landed a job in her field; risk management/insurance. Unfortunately, she didn't like the management style at the company, so she left. She returned to AlliedBarton, thinking again it would be temporary. Gesi ended up spending her entire career moving up the ladder at AlliedBarton.
"There was a network of people who helped me along the way," explains Gesi. "I learned from watching people on the job. The training helped make me a success."
“When I got my first raise I learned that if you provide superior service the monetary benefits will come.”
Like many managers at AlliedBarton, Sidney Toombs started his career here as a security officer. He first looked at the job as a 'speed bump,' just a job until something better came along. He was promoted after one year and began to see the opportunities available for him.
"Your work ethic and talent are rewarded at AlliedBarton," says Sidney. "In order to remain competitive Allied must attract & retain the most talented and fully engaged people to be the best. You can't help but move up if that's your desire."
During his 15 years with AlliedBarton, his 'can-do' attitude has lead to numerous promotions.
